The design note

A study should make you want to sit down and stay. This one pairs a lacquered console desk, which looks as good from the doorway as from the chair, with a generous upholstered chair.

Two sconces wash the wall behind the desk so a video call does not light you from below. A table lamp with an alabaster body adds a warm point of light at the end of the day.

A console behind or beside the desk holds books and files, and the rug quiets the room.
