Bedroom
The Quiet Bedroom
Grasscloth, linen and aged brass, with nothing in it that asks for attention.
The design note
A bedroom should lower the volume. This one does it with texture instead of color: woven walls, soft linen, lacquer with a low sheen, and brass that has been allowed to darken.
The bed is the anchor, flanked by matching nightstands and lamps so the wall reads as one composition. A long dresser opposite gives the room its second line, and a bench at the foot of the bed gives you somewhere to sit that is not the bed.
Light comes from three heights: a chandelier for the room, lamps for reading, nothing harsh at eye level.
Up close
A pleated shade, a brass stem, and light that stays low enough to read by.
