Entry

The Front Hall

A console, a mirror and lamps in pairs: the first room anyone sees.

A front hall with a long wood console centered under a mirror, a pair of lamps, an arched doorway and a dark runner

The design note

The entry is the smallest room in the house and the one that sets every expectation. It needs four things done well: a surface, a mirror, light at eye level and a runner underfoot.

This hall uses the oldest arrangement there is: a console centered on the wall, a mirror above it, and a pair of lamps, one at each end. Symmetry reads as order the moment the door opens.

A small side table and one piece on the wall give it a personality without crowding the path.

Up close

Two lamps, one mirror, one console. Symmetry is the oldest trick in the house, and still the best.
