Dining
The Spanish Revival Dining Room
Dark wood, iron and white plaster around a long table.
The design note
Spanish revival houses were built for long meals: thick walls, deep windows, dark wood against white. This room keeps that contrast and leaves out the costume.
A long table seats six with room to pass dishes. A console along the wall carries serving pieces and candles. Two pendants hang low over the table so the light stays on the people, not the ceiling.
The rug runs at least two feet past the chairs on every side, so nobody catches a chair leg on the edge.
Up close
Iron, walnut and terracotta: three materials that look better after a hundred dinners.
