Bath

The Primary Bath and Dressing Room

Cerused oak, brass and the soft shine of capiz.

A primary bath with a furniture-style oak vanity, two round brass mirrors, sconces beside each mirror and a capiz pendant

The design note

A primary bath can feel like a dressing room rather than a utility. This one is furnished, not fitted: a vanity that looks like a piece of furniture, two mirrors, sconces at face height on either side of each mirror.

Sconces beside the mirror, not above it, light a face evenly. It is the most useful decision in the room.

A counter stool gives the dressing side a place to sit. Plumbing fixtures and installation are not part of the room.

Up close

A sconce beside the mirror, never above it. The light that flatters is the light at face height.
